Re-opening following the easing of restrictions due to Covid-19

 

Physical Health is now open for selected face-to-face physiotherapy and sports massage appointments. We have put the following measures in place to reduce the risk to our staff, clients and to public health.

 

If you are considering coming for a face-to-face appointment it is essential that you read the following as this is our Physical Health Covid-19 Safeguarding Policy.

 

Clinic capacity and cleaning
 

  • Appointments will be spaced so that there is a minimum of 15 minutes between appointments. This will enable the clinician to have time to change PPE and clean all surfaces with hot soapy water and disinfectant spray. The room will be aired and surfaces will be allowed to air dry. This includes the treatment couch, all handles, sink, taps, chairs, desks, massage lotion bottles and light switches of the treatment room.

  • Disposable, single use couch roll will be used on the couch, cleanable pillows and massage bolsters.

  • One or two clean and freshly laundered towels will be used for each client. They will be placed in the laundry bin immediately after use.

  • Treatment couch covers will not be used.

  • A deep clean of the clinic will be conducted daily and the door left open overnight for ventilation.

 

Personal protective equipment (PPE)


Your physiotherapist or sports massage therapist will be wearing the following PPE at your appointment. This is in compliance with our professional body guidelines.

  • Non-latex gloves (single use)

  • Apron (single use)

  • IIR facemask (single use)

  • Visor or eye protection (sports massage therapist only)

 

Your agreement with us


We advise that you continue with virtual sessions unless there is a clinical need to have hands on physiotherapy or sports massage therapy. In order for our clinicians to establish this, you will be required to have a telephone or video consultation with your physiotherapist or sports massage therapist before coming into the clinic. Your therapist will undertake a risk assessment on an individual basis as to whether a face to face appointment is suitable for you at this time.

 

You will be made aware of all risks associated with this approach and consent will be documented. This is in line with the recommendations from our regulatory bodies: The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy https://www.csp.org.uk/news/coronavirus/clinical-guidance/remote-or-face-face-consultations/flowchart and the CTHA Complimentary Therapist Association (for Sports Massage).

 

We have done everything we can to reduce the risk of our clinicians and clients contracting Covid-19. However, if you come for face-to-face treatment, please be aware that there is no way that we can completely eliminate the risk of you contracting Covid-19.

Everyone coming for an appointment will need to complete the pre-screening Health and Wellness form for Covid-19 symptoms.

 

What you need to do before, during and after your appointment

 

We ask you to adhere to the following rules. We will terminate your appointment if you do not adhere to these rules and you will still be liable for the cost of the session:

  • Please complete, sign and return (all online) the pre-screening Health and Wellness form for Covid-19 symptoms that is sent to you in your appointment confirmation email.
     

  • Please attend your appointment alone where possible, unless you require an interpreter or you are accompanying your child for their appointment.
     

  • Please wait in your car or outside the hotel, not in the gym reception area, before your appointment and you will be called by your therapist when the clinic room is ready for your appointment.
     

  • We request that you wear a face mask for the time that you are in the You Fit building and Physical Health clinic space.
     

  • We will be taking your temperature before you enter the clinic to ensure you do not have a fever using a no-touch infrared thermometer.
     

  • We will ask you to carefully clean your hands with alcohol-based gel before you enter the clinic.
     

  • Please maintain a two metre distance from your clinician for the parts of your session that are possible to do so.
     

  • The doors to the treatment room and clinic will be left open to maximise ventilation except for when they need to be closed for your privacy.
     

  • Please try not to use the toilet if possible.
     

  • Please make all payments by BACS or contactless payments using the iZettle reader.
     

  • If you develop any Covid-19 symptoms in the two weeks following your consultation please notify us immediately.
